In November 2007 the Land Transport Rule: Vehicle

2007, was signed off. It came into effect
progressively from 3 January 2008.
While it imposes some limits on modified exhausts (noise
emmission must not exceed 100dB on a standardised test) it
doesn't
prevent you from getting your unique look or a head
turning sound.
